Review of American Psycho (2000) by Gerardo A — 06 Jan 2014
Twisted, disturbing, difficult to watch. One may never be able to look at Phil Collins and Huey Lewis the same way ever again.
Christian Bale is perfect. From frame one he just looks like something is off about him, and boy is it. Every manic moment is combined with an almost precise control with other people. It's almost disturbing nobody realizes he's nuts unless they catch him in the act. The man quotes serial killers! How the heck does nobody notice something's off about the guy?
It's mostly Bale's show, but none of the supporting players are bad. None of them stand out, though. This is one sick film, and without Bale's amazing performance, the movie would be a failure.
