Review of American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009) by Justin V — 29 Dec 2009
Pretty much the same thing as the prevous movies, with different faces. The film does not tie together much from the previous iterations--for instance the new "Stiffler" character does not reference back to his older brothers, or "Stiffler's mom," or any of that.
The formula is routine, however the acting and production values are solid. The movie has funny and gross moments, but overall moves smoothly over the course of 90 some-odd minutes. The film is set in the winter, instead of the summer, which is a nice change, and more of the movie takes place in "Great Falls High School," during the school day, as a result.
It has some interesting cameo appearances from former teen/young adult actors from similarly styled movies and TV shows from the 1970s-1990s. This plays in to the plot, but is not overdone. Not a "must see," but not a "must miss," either.
