Review of American Pie Presents: The Book of Love (2009) by Darryll H — 12 Oct 2011
I love the american pie series and by the I mean the 4 movies that feature the original cast, I have no time for the spin-offs I hated band camp, the naked mile and beta-house were funny movies but they wasen't american pie, now book of love while I think this is the worst spin off after band camp, it's the only one that has come even closest to bieng more like the original, in tone and execution, but at times it painfully imitates the original one example is the mom who comes of cringe worthy and not in the way of eugene levy in the original series, but in the way that it's a painfull imitation of jims dad from the original series, who by the way is here and gets more screen time than the last few, but he just aint jim's dad in this series, they have changed him completely, they even make out like he was a bit of a jerk, in the past, I mean come on, that is not jim's dad from the first 4.
band camp had the closest incarnation of him in the spin off's but again pale imitation, anyway the movie has a couple of funny moments thanks to eugene levy and has lots of naked chicks, but it's an empty and shallow movie and a million miles away from the original series.
for die hard fans only.
