Review of American Pie Presents: Band Camp (2005) by Don S — 11 Jul 2011
The overwhelming feeling you get here is that they were trying too hard to be funny. "Look at me, I'm Stiffler's brother, and I'm just as funny as he is." Trouble is, he's not as funny as the original. Throwing Eugene Levy and the Shermanator in there and a few references to American Pie characters does not make this an American Pie movie. Taken on its own, this is a decent teen comedy - nothing special, nothing awful. There are some laugh out loud bits. There are some groaners. Enjoyed Arielle Kebbel and Jason Earles (pre-Hannah Montana). Hilgenbrink was trying WAY too hard to be funny and mostly failed. If you don't compare to the AP series, this is worth a look. If you're looking for the quality of the originals, forget about it.
