Review of American Movie (1999) by Robert T — 28 Aug 2008
This film is really funny! The main character, Mark Borchardt, waxes eloquent about his film projects and the other vicissitudes of his life. Some in our group found it depressing that he ultimately gets so little done.
For the film makers in the group, the depiction of the difficulty daily details of film making was almost too excruciating to bear. I found it uplifting that people like Mark are out there, delivering papers in the morning and vacuuming mausoleums in the night, taking care of their three kids, but most importantly obsessively working on their horror films.
