This documentary borders like so many on being mistook for a mockumentary because of the tragically hilarious nature of its subjects. This is a film for anyone who is either seriously into making films or those who appreciate the efforts involved in independent film making. The doco chronicles one man's efforts to fulfill a life long dream of making his own film. When his feature length effort falls short of financing he turns his attentions back to a short film he began several years ago, 'Coven'. He seemingly scams the money off his uncle who can barely walk and talk - though he gives a hilarious performance in the final cut of the short film, and uses friends and family along with a casting call, to fill all the parts.

He certainly is a determined man and whether or not his journey is an eventual success is besides the point, he is doing what he loves with the people he loves. His drug afflicted friend is funny and also writes the music for his films, it is at points like this that it becomes obvious the audience will be laughing at these people and not along with them and it's quite an uncomfortable feeling because you know the simple lives that these people lead.

Structurally this doco keeps the audience interested and covers all areas of interest in a strict chronological line. Snippets of the movie 'Coven" are shown throughout and at the end to feel the movie being made within the movie. It really is an extraordinary documentary that I would highly recommend.
