Review of American Movie (1999) by Paul P — 01 Oct 2010
If you don't come away loving Mark Borchardt after this then I don't wanna know ya! This documentary captures real, human passion on film. It threw it back to middle school for me. When me and some buddies would film stuff then edit it and think it was the greatest thing ever.
But we eventually moved on, Mark Borchardt is a man so dead set on his love of filmmaking that I doubt he'll ever stop and I applaud it. We meet a few other people like Mike Schank who only seems to talk about lottery tickets and times when he used to party.
As well as Uncle Bill who is a lovable cynic and only seems interested when Mark shows him a girl in a bikini who might audition for the movie. A great documentary that should be required viewing for anyone interested in making films.
