Review of American Made (2017) by Alan G — 04 Oct 2017
A lot of Old Geezers Who Go To The Matinee Alone showed up and thankfully there were only a couple of talkers. Cruise plays a TWA pilot who becomes embroiled with CIA meddling in Central America. I have traveled a lot in Central America and there is still a lot of hard feelings about this.
I once visited a CIA air field in Panama that was used, according to locals, to ferry Contras and drugs to and from the USA. The movie is pretty good but sort of a one note affair. Lots of good images of airplanes and such.
I have no idea if the story is factual or not, but it seems reasonable. Cruise does his usual professional job here and I think Sarah Wright was standout as the wife. The OGWGOTMA all seemed pleased and stayed to the end.
I can easily recommend this one for lots of good reasons. It is not a 'thinker' but I left feeling like I had received my monies worth.
