Review of American Made (2017) by Richard S — 15 Apr 2018
A quote on the cover of the American Made DVD describes it as "Narcos meets Mission Impossible" which is probably the lowest form of lazy film journalism. It is nothing like either, the film stars Tom Cruise and Pablo Escobar features in the film, this is as close as it gets to either of those properties.
The film is set in the 1970's and follows the true life story of a pilot who is hired by the CIA to take covert photos over South American countries. This then develops into delivering weapons to rebels in Nicaragua, while at the same time delivering drugs for the Colombian drug onto American soil.
Basically the man plays both sides against each other and makes a lot of money from it. How true this is to the true life story is debatable but it made a very entertaining movie.
