Review of American Made (2017) by Patrick B — 30 Sep 2017
Taken as a story - by itself without any context - it's a fairly good movie. Though it contained superficial character and plot-development, with jumps that were disjointed, I was entertained throughout, and enjoyed it overall.
When you add the historical context (do research) you discover that the portrayal of Barry Seal is quite inaccurate, indeed more inaccurate than usual for a Hollywood picture. This is where the TV/streaming show Narcos - on Netflix - is better.
Seal is only in 5-10 minutes of it, but he's more accurately portrayed (as well as, of course, the drug-trafficking coming out of Columbia in the 80s, into the 90s).
