Review of American Interior (2014) by Amanda C — 23 Oct 2014
A whimsical exploration of myth and language as director Gruff Rhys retraces the steps of his ancestor to map the American interior. Accompanied by a puppet of John Carter on his failed quest to find Welsh Indians, the film is punctuated by songs and quirky graphics mapping the quest.
Rhys has done a fantastic job of turning a story of preserving culture, the discussion of which is both supremely important and usually quite dry, into a fantastical, fun musical journey.
