Review of American Hustle (2013) by Logan A — 18 Oct 2015

I loved this movie and found its characters compelling and complex. But I didn't know it was supposed to be a comedy until I read synopses on websites like RT... I found the story and its players to be as profound, desperate and yet endearing as the candid moments I share with real friends, or the gritty, weary truths I see in the eyes of passersby on the streets.

I thought it would be another grotesque caricature of American excess, and instead it reflected the spirit that haunts and delights me about our curious place in time.
