Review of American Honey (2016) by Jane S — 06 Oct 2016

I was immediately drawn into the lives of the characters. What struck me is that these were probably kids with hopelessly desperate lives (drug addicted parents, poor education, dismal futures). However, as I watched I could see how acceptance and bonding with other people gave the characters' lives meaning.

While it was evident that their "job" would never really work out for them, they found a day to day meaning in being with each other. The movie itself was a bit long at 2 1/2 hours. The length of the movie did give a sense of the endless time that the characters faced, it was still a bit much for an observer.
