Review of American History X (1998) by Gabriel V — 22 May 2012
This is Ed Norton's best performance. A film about racial tension, and the difference of life on the streets and in jail. Norton plays a white supremacist who learns to judge people for who they are and not what color their skin is through his experience in jail.
Surviving his bid was only half his problem, after arriving home he finds his kid brother idolizing him for all the wrong reasons, and on the same path of destruction. This movie delivers its message home with authority.
It teaches you that idealogies are just so, as long as they are convenient. As our situations change so do our ideas and what we percieve as morally correct or not.
