Review of American Graffiti (1973) by Douglas P — 01 Dec 2008
A damn fine film. Besides THX-1138, this is George Lucas' greatest work. The soundtrack, the cinematography, the cars and sets. Everything feels authentic in this film. And what is most impressive in this film is the pacing to this film, moving from character to character with a genuine ease.
Lucas is the biggest hack and can be blamed for sinking US cinema into the cesspool it has become, but here he has painted an indelible and heartfelt look at the last of idyllic America.
