Review of American Graffiti (1973) by Jimmy M — 29 Sep 2012
Set in the early sixties, just before the assassination of JFK, this film follows one night in the shoes of several students recently graduated from high school. Lucasâ(TM) film is a wonderful bittersweet and romantic look at the times it is set in, with its unmistakable style, hip swinging rock and roll, the beginning of cult pirate radio stations ruled by a phantomatic figure known by the name of Wolfman Jack, and fast cars.
One of the most influential teen movies of all time as well as a nice sum up of American monopolisation of the late fifties and early sixties period in peopleâ(TM)s perceptions.
