Review of American Graffiti (1973) by Simon O — 06 Dec 2012
Seems to have an equivalent number of little moments I adore and little flaws. However, when I look at this movie as a whole, I see likable characters, great performances, and legitimately interesting character arcs, unlike your average teen movie.
The direction is kind of boring, the editing is at times lackluster (though overall this is actually a strength of the film. It just has its imperfections), and the epilogue makes me want to punch something.
The end of a lot of the characters arcs could've been more satisfying as well. But overall, It is a high quality film I would't mind watching again.
