Review of American Gigolo (1980) by Daniel P — 18 Aug 2007
Richard Gere's breakthrough role. Like Taxi Driver, more about a confused man in a disgusting vice-filled world than about an actual plot. Unlike Taxi Driver, mediocre acting, and boring, confused storyline that never really gets resolved. I love "Call Me" by Blondie, but the techno remix throughout the movie gets very repetitive.
According to the book "Easy Riders and Raging Bulls," Paul Schrader is a horrible person. Based on his movies, I can see it.
