Review of American Gigolo (1980) by Paul D — 24 Aug 2010
Paul Schrader and Richard Gere made magic with American Gigolo. Stylish cinematography, carefully thought-out costumes and colour schemes, this film was a visual pleasure. Schrader took on an interesting perspective when he selected a male prostitute as his protagonist.
The plot was well constructed, Julian was caught up in a conflict where reputation and secrecy were entwined with injustice. A solid picture overall.
