Review of American Gigolo (1980) by Paul V — 22 May 2009
The movie that started the 1980s! Veteran screenwriter Paul Schrader directs an excellent movie starring Richard Gere as a gigolo and we get an inside look at the lifestyle with a great soundtrack featuring Giorgio Moroder and Blondie.
This really set the tone for a lot of 1980s action and suspense thrillers. Very stylish and elegantly portrayed. We also get a great villain in Bill Duke ('Commando', 'Predator') as a pimp wanting Gere to do some gay tricks.
