Review of American Gangster (2007) by Kyle B — 03 Jan 2012
American Gangster is an intriguing look into the life of Frank Lucas, Son, Brother, and above all, one of the most powerful drug importers and dealers in New York City of the 1970's. Denzel Washington once again proves why he is one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, alongside a group of incredible supporting actors.
Crowe's performance as the only good cop left in New york, Richie Roberts is nothing short of spectacular as well. The film comes in at over 2 hours and 40 minutes, but very rarely through the film would I find it slowing pace.
The action is present in enough dosage to keep the viewer entertained in between lines of incredible dialogue. The story is an incredible look into the struggles of two men both trying to make right, while being the mirror image of the other.
Watch the trailer and imagine the energy of that being the entire film. My friend Adam has seen this film 3 times already, and I'm sure I will not be far behind. Ridlley Scott once again shows his unmistakable talents behind the camera in this epic drama sure to be up for an Oscar next year.
