Review of American Gangster (2007) by Betty W — 21 Jan 2012
Honestly, it was overdrawn and focused on the less interesting parts of gangster life.
If the whole movie had started with the end and the rest had been short flash-backs, it would have been far more enjoyable.
Geez. I mean, I didn't care about Crowe's partner or Denzel's cousins or his clichà (C) wife. Maybe if the side character had been more interesting?no. I'll stick to what I said about the flash-backs.
It's got some really neat scenes (all involving Denzel) and from the first opening shot where he LIGHTS THAT FREAKING GUY ON FIRE! I was so excited and energized for some gangster action.
No...boring and overdrawn. There were so many irrelevant and uninteresting little plots and scenes, I was practically zoning out the whole movie.
Denzel was awesome though.
Crowe was "boring character Crowe" in this movie.
