Review of American Gangster (2007) by Rafiq U — 17 May 2012
A mostly successful gangster movie, all the roles are great and well played especially by Russell Crowe and Josh Brolin. The movie is long as hell, but does keep your interest for most of it, especially near the end, however Denzel Washington's character ranges from kind of likable to total douche, which would be fine if the movie wasn't shooting mixed messages at you the whole time. Either way, it's a well told story with a great cast and memorable moments. Overall, check it out.
PROS: Great cast, interesting story, good pacing.
CONS: Denzel is a mixed bag, no Andre 3k, random ending.
