I didn't expect to like this as much as I did. Reminded me of SERPICO, FRENCH CONNECTION, and GOODFELLAS. Terrific NYC period setting, great acting from everyone (esp Ruby Dee in a small but powerful role as Denzel's mother & Josh Brolin as a cop on the take).
Really gritty and muscular in that great 1970s way.
