Review of American Gangster (2007) by Grant F — 29 Jul 2013
I enjoyed the top notch performances from Crowe and Washington, but the film's excessively slow pacing makes it difficult to get through. Ridley Scott directs this film as a tribute to old gangster films, with a violent, modern twist.
The sharply written dialogue and believable acting, combined with high quality costume and production design make it serve as a stark period piece for Harlem in the 60s and 70s.
