Review of American Gangster (2007) by Daniel D — 04 Dec 2015
The gangster movie genre although worn thin down to the bone, is still prevalent and always fun depending on who is taking on the task of making the movie. American Gangster offers up an interesting true story with some top notch acting by Denzel Washington and Russel Crowe.
I wish Denzel would choose better roles like this these days, since in my opinion he has been in a terrible slump lately, aka movies like The Safe House. American Gangster is a stylish urban gangster drama that plays out like a cat and mouse game as the police try and put Frank Lucas played by Washington out of criminal business.
It ends up being a stylish but gritty movie well worth a view.
