Review of American Gangster (2007) by Darren C — 15 Jan 2013
I would say that the movie is up to the usual Ridley Scott standard (well, whenever he is at his best). Needless to say that Denzel is awesome, and Crowe doesn't get run over by him. One gripe: the preview plays up the fact that a black man is accomplishing this a LOT more than the movie actually does.
Which I think is good, because I don't feel it's the main point of the movie. Cuba Gooding Jr, best role since "Jerry Maguire" (or if you're me, then "Boyz N The Hood").
At least he isn't driving an ice cream truck in this one.
