Review of American Dreamz (2006) by Kathleen P — 02 Dec 2008
I thought this was going to be very funny. It was. It was even more interesting than I thought, though, because it really dealt with current issues. There was a full-blown planned terrorist attack, the American president was featured in it as a bumbling idiot who was actually very innocent and pretty pitiable because he was always just fed information and cried when he was alone because he had no opinions of his own, and reality tv with how unreal it is but how it messes with real people's lives.
It was much less funny and much more terrifying and frightening if you really think about it. There's a lot of emphasis on how superficial we as a nation are, and how we don't really care about some things that really matter if we can have our way, how greedy people can be, how much we hurt ourselves and each other, and how some people's lives are so uncared for but everyone else's lives go on and no one really cares.
Very stark and frightening how true it is.
