Review of American Dreamz (2006) by Brian M — 17 Feb 2010
I am a fan of American idol, and this is basically a parody of it, with a terrorist twist. It's not the best movie, but, it does have it's moments. I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a comedy or not, because it wasn't funny.
It does seem to me, that this was kind of a look at the human side of reality television, and how hollywood makes an attempt at taking any situation and using it to push an idea that will affect the out come of a program that they want to sell, and get ratings.
The only thing I didn't like about the film, is this is a singing competition, and only one of the people in the movie could actually sing, the rest were just gags. The terrorist who would rather sing showtunes, was mildly amusing, but there wasn't really anyone interesting in the movie.
The whole retarded president thing, was just annoying. I think a smart, yet easily irritated president would have been more interesting. Take for example the womanizing prez in the Movie "Dave". I thought that was just pointless, and the only reason there was a retarded president, was to add the terrorist plot. The movie would have been better without it. But, that is just my opinion.
