On paper, this shouldn't work. It should be depressing, and really creepy. And yet it's neither of those things. From the first moments of the film, you can tell that it's better than most movies.
Most films take a few minutes for you to get lost in their universe, if you do so at all. American Beauty snaps you up right away. Flawless.
