American beauty, as you can tell by ratings and reviews, is a movie about the unorthodox, and sometimes even insane behaviors of a modern suburban family. Kevin Spacey(lester burnham) is an aging working man who has a desk job and is unhappy. his wife, and daughter are also unhappy. So one feels this uneasy recognition of this unhappiness, as lester begins growing so much balls after associating with his weird new next door neighbor kid it almost hurts.
