Absolutely five stars for Kevin Spacey, Annette Bening and Sam Mendes! Kevin Spacey almost gave the performance of his life, if not House of Cards. American Beauty has sometimes disturbing elements provided by Thora Birch, most of the time entertaining from Kevin Spacey and perhaps rather sadness-stricken moments throughout the film.
