Review of American Beauty (1999) by Samuel H — 12 Jan 2015
A film on finding beauty in suburban dystopia, American Beauty is a work of art. Even though every action in the movie should be viewed as bad, we find ourselves cheering for the wrong thing to happen.
And yet the wrong thing is really not wrong. Every character in the film play both a protagonist and antagonist. There are multiple twists that keep you guessing. The acting is superb. The score is phenomenal, as is the cinematography.
They say the good films sticks with you, and this one surely does. A masterpiece of modern cinema.
