Review of American Beauty (1999) by Kelsey M — 22 May 2015
Time hasn't really been kind to "American Beauty", most everyone who loved it back in 1999 seems to have forgotten it, leaving only those voices that were and are highly critical of the film still talking.
It's certainly not worthy of enormous praise (pretty much everything to do with Wes Bentley's character is too ridiculous to work, and Annette Bening's forced to just being a crazy a shrew for the whole movie), but I've never entirely hated it because even though the commentary is obvious, I like that it's often humorous.
