Review of American Beauty (1999) by Connor S — 14 Apr 2014

Kevin Spacey is a great actor, and this is probably his best performance yet. He gives a perfect combination a humor and seriousness, which makes American Beauty an above average movie. Unfortunately, everything else about the movie isn't as great.

All of the other characters are pretty dull, especially the daughter character. And while I realize the bag scene is supposed to be poetic and deep, it just seems pretentious and cheesy. I would recommend this movie just for Kevin Spacey's performance, but everything else is sub-par.
