American Beauty is a dark, fascinating examination of the American lifestyle and how suppressing your true self and settling into a numbing, normal routine can be dangerous. This film is about identity, mid-life crises and high schoolers trying to find who they really are.
All these dynamic characters have realizations about who they are and what they want and they slowly unravel to a powerful and succinct conclusion.
