Review of American Assassin (2017) by Tom C — 07 Oct 2017
Sign of our Times.
Sadly, terrorism, seems to be an everyday occurence in our today society. (Las Vegas shooting + Barcelona Las Ramblas, at time of this review). And so it is not to hard to imagine, how when some one else has taken your life away, how , someone else, would dedicate his/her own life to avenge the wrong, inflicted , and that there is nothing he/she would not do to avenge this wrong. This is the good part of the storyline, the first half discovery between Keaton and Assassin guy, is the best part of the movie, because it explores that theme. When you have been wronged? What would you do? Passive defeat? or Vengeful hate? The fight scenes are good, and I did not think the ending was over the top. In fact, the ending is as real as it could be if something that like did happen. (again, North Korea launching missiles into Pacific?). The torture scene was way too long, and probably unnecessary, I had to close my eyes too. But this movie stayed w me, long afterwards, because of how close it could be to reality, given the age we live in. Scary.
