Review of American Assassin (2017) by Craig V — 14 Sep 2017
A solidly entertaining and believable start. O'Brien successfully pulls off the daunting task of being (young) Mitch Rapp while most readers likely visualize the older more fully formed Mitch. I'm in, let do another one and think about recasting the first Irene.
Shiva Negar lacks the gravitas of the Vince penned Irene. Irene is an attractive women but also pretty cerebral and street smart. Negar seems more like a great looking model turned actor and will work better in other genre.
She the only weak link in the first movie or I'd score it a 3.5 or better. Keaton is solid as Stan. For me, the book American Assassin was good like all Vince books but not his strongest so I'm expecting better stuff going forward when they can explore the other books.
