Review of American Anarchist (2016) by Doug M — 27 Jun 2017
This film has some very real morality issues. It strives for scenes where the interviewer asks "gotcha" questions that leave William unable to speak. The problem is that the film also shows you that William is a good person, whose book "The Anarchist Cookbook", written at the young age of 19, resulted in unintentional consequences.
William's inability to express his guilt and emotions is exploited in the worst way. By portraying this story in the light that it does, the filmmakers are tarnishing the legacy of William, who you can tell is ultimately a good person.
These filmmakers are very small people who chose to tell a very interesting story in a terrible and embarrassing way.
