Review of America The Beautiful (2008) by Carlos P — 24 Dec 2009
I thought for a while I would not finish this documentary about America's obsession with looks. The quality is a little substandard, and Roberts is quite dry as he narrates and interviews. The message, however, soon takes center stage, and once again a simple subject becomes an interesting documentary.
And once again, American corporations and their greed (and our government's inability to regulate them) are a big source of blame. I always push for films like this to show up in high schools, and I think this could definitely show the other side to a group of girls who may only see what is on cable tv and in magazines.
