While Amelie will fill hearts everywhere with warmth toward the often charming trickery of filmmaking, I dare to say that it's overeager to do so. Jeunet's genius lies behind many illusions, harboring a darker guile that I could never champion.
For most, Amelie's artless visage will be quite enough.
