Review of Amelia (2009) by Natalie S — 03 Feb 2010
Amelia was not nearly as bad as I was lead to believe, in fact I enjoyed it quite a bit. However it was far from perfcet, and could have been a hell of a lot better. Considering how interesting the subject matter is, the film just felt very cookie cutter, and rushed. Clocking in at just under 2 hours. It needed more time to better establish the characters, tell the story, and maybe tread a bit deeper into the life and career of Amelia Earhart. Instead the interesting aspects get bogged down by a fairly dull love story. It almost seemed like they tried to do what Walk the Line did, but fell flat.
The acting was very good, and the visuals were stunning(must be seen in HD). Also the last moments were done pretty well, but could have built the suspence a bit better. Aside from those points, it leaves alot to be desired.
