Review of Amelia (2009) by Carolyn G — 16 Nov 2010
I've been fascinated by Amelia Earhart since childhood and was hoping for much more from this film. Sadly, direction by Mira Nair ("Hysterical Blindness", "Mississippi Masala") and another great performance by Hilary Swank couldn't breathe life into a duller-than-dirt script.
It didn't dig much deeper than what we already knew about Earhart and squandered the likes of Richard Gere and Ewan McGregor. This was largely a disappointment, with the most interesting scenes coming at the end of the film.
