Review of Amelia (2009) by Grant S — 28 Jan 2011
Interesting as a documentary on the adult life of flying legend Amelia Earhart, but fairly dull as dramatic movie. The movie really just shows the external view of Ms Earhart, rather than delving into her character. Then, maybe, her life wasn't actually exciting or multi-faceted enough to make a good movie...
Cinematography iss great. The landscapes and seascapes are beautiful and vivid - you can see what inspired Earhart to want to just fly and fly.
Hilary Swank does the best she can with the script she is given. She is quite convincing in the lead role. Richard Gere gives an OK, though sometimes irritating, performance. Ewan McGregor deserved a bigger part.
