Review of Amelia (2009) by Brandon M — 18 Feb 2010

I liked this movie more than I disliked it. Only because Hilary Swank is an exceptional actress. She truly embodied Amelia in this biopic. However, it was very boring. The relationship, or lack there of, between Gere and Swank was rushed and unbelievable. This movie didn't know whether it was a love story or a biopic and in an attempt to balance the two, ran out of gas and fell from radar.

There was redemption at the end of the movie with palpable suspense when she couldn't locate the island. It was beautifully directed and the cinematography was breath taking. However, failed to capture me.
