May have to watch it again, but I enjoyed it almost as much "8 1/2".

Fellini takes us through the seasons of life as portrayed by characters of a small Italian village. From the onset of Spring ( love, sex, vibrant life) to the downturn of Winter ( death, "all-consuming fog"), we see their traditions ( burning of the snow witch, festive wedding ceremonies) & oddities ( the old man reflecting upon the town's historic architecture, the town whore, the 1 a.m. boat outing) as well as their eccentric school teachers and erratic home life. All through the escapades of a teenage boy ( partially based on Fellini himself). Tempers flare, family frustrations flourish and sexual desire runs high.

He peppers the films with moments of random toilet humor( adults farting, boys obsession with the older women's bums).

Fellini also takes a blunt look at Pro- Fascism amongst the town. The film is beautifully shot- taking advantage of "magic hour"- and takes us from a dusty town, to wide-open country sides , breezy beachfronts and snow-covered cobble streets. Not a movie you want pop in and do laundry.....A feast for the eyes indeed!
