Review of Amarcord (1973) by Matt P — 02 Oct 2011
A highly imaginative coming of age film, set in a rather strange town in the heart of 1930's italy. It has a overall very funny comedy backbone, which is often utilized as a safety net when the film becomes too abstract for modern audiences to handle.
Every character in the film has a charismatic role to play, even though at first, the vast number of characters maybe overwhelming, soon each character has it's own role in the film, this then firmly ensures that the viewer can be emotionally attached to each and every character.
This film is certainly a must see, and a pleasure to watch. As the name suggests (amaracord - I remember), it is a not film that is easily forgotten!
