Review of Amal (2007) by Doug B — 07 Feb 2009
An interesting tale of greed versus kindness, wealth vs poverty and the triumph of the little guy over the ugliness of desire. Naseeruddin Shah is really outstanding giving a truly humble performance as Amal and terrific scenery in Delhi.
This film didn't follow every cliché in the book but it was completely compelling and visually beautiful throughout. The song scene will put a lump in your throat. Nice to see it's a Canadian production no less.
