Review of Amadeus (1984) by Jean Carlos T — 24 Mar 2011
This is an amazing film, beautiful, fearless, powerful! This is an absolute masterpiece and I don't/won't regret to say this!
You don't see a film like Amadeus nowadays. The film excitement, thrill, story, passion and power is what becomes this film a masterpiece. This is not a good movie, a "good movie" is an insult for this movie; Amadeus is a masterpiece, which is underrated film right now. People don't know this powerful film, I don't know why; some people saw this film but don't remember anything of it, with the exception of the laugh of Mozart... And is really bad to see a masterpiece like Amadeus being forgotten by everyone, that is just sad.
The revenge, the angry, the mistery, the EVERYTHING makes this film a masterpiece. I didn't have high expectatives of this film because all the stupid things people said to me; and thanks God I was expecting the worst!
The characters are so likeable, so fearless, so... truthful. Everyone identifies with one or two characters. I identify with Salieri and Mozart, Salieri is a person that always try to do the best things, to be obedient to his superiors, to be the best HIM he could be, but always was overshadowed by Mozart who was a ultimate on everything. Mozart is more fearless, more natural, more creative, and he was just whoever he wanted to be (as it should be), he didn't care about rules or anything that would stop his work. That's how I identify with both characters sometimes; I become a Salieri sometimes, and sometimes I am more Mozart.
The direction was good, not great, but... it was just good. The acting was superb, outstanding. And the screenplay was very original, it was thrilling, it was fearless, it was fun, something you wouldn't expect from a movie about composers, and I think the screenplay was the best thing that this film had.
EXTREMELY RECOMMENDED: 10.
