Review of Amadeus (1984) by Kyle A — 16 Dec 2010
I completely underestimated this Best Picture winner, and I'm kinda glad I did because the reward of watching it made the film shine brighter. "Amadeus" is the story of composers Salieri and Mozart, or rather Jealousy and Arrogance.
Both journeys have intersecting points, the most interesting of which is the commonalities between Salieri's relationship with God and Mozart's relationship with his wife. They share common phrases at times, and work together well in forming the main characters in this epic film.
I watched the director's cut, which is three hours on the spot, and it's length felt perfect. I don't know how they cut out twenty minutes of this classic motion picture.
